Foundations of Web Development

Want to find out what all the buzz is about? In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of how the web works and build your own webpage from scratch.

Over the course of the 14-hour workshop, you’ll work with our dedicated instructor to create your very own web page and publish it on the web. You’ll be able to show your friends and family what you’ve built and have the satisfaction of seeing it live on the Internet. Trust us, it feels great.

TECHNOLOGIES

Every web page is made up for content (text, images, etc.) and a layout/styling for that content. To author the content we’ll use HTML, to style it we’ll use CSS and Twitter Bootstrap and to animate it we’ll use jQuery.

• Student Site Example  – built during the 14-hour introduction to web development workshop. Student had minimal prior experience.
• Domestic Violence Awareness Event Site – built by instructor using only HTML, CSS with a Bootstrap theme. These topics are all covered in the 14-hour workshop.

TIMELINE

This workshop includes 14 hours of in-class instruction over a 2 week timespan. We meet on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.
